Another AVG Problem

I find this very strange, but it's the only thing I can put it down to. I updated my AVG software to avg_free_stb_en_9_40_free, and my sound and video became jerky. Hard to explain what the audio was like. A bit like someone stuttering, and the video, even on live tv, kept freezing. I uninstalled the software, and went back to AVG 8.5, but unfortunately, the problems still there. I even did a system restore, and that didn't work. Also, my headphones don't seem to work now. I've looked in control panel, and hardware manager, and when I perform the tests on the sound card, it says they are working normally. Can anyone please help. It's driving me mad.

Ok, I checked everything, and I get the message my drivers are up to date. I ended up doing a system restore, and now if I watch tv through TotalMedia 3.5, both audio and video seem ok, but if I play any media files, video is jerky and audio jutters. I don't know what else to do.

uninstall AVG and install a better antivirus such as Avira

although if Avira haven't fixed the problem with their update servers yet "avast" or "microsoft security essentials" are both good alternatives.

AVG is a pile of junk these days, you'll find many threads on here of people having problems with it and its performance has been awful in independent testing of late (https://www.av-comparatives.com)


....tho be warned 'expresso' might come along and deny all of the above and tell you AVG is still best thing ever :doh:
