My emails are disppearing from my Inbox

I am running Vista and I am using Windows Mail. I have AVG anti-virus.

Today I looked in my Inbox and all the emails for the last week have vanished. I've checked the settings and it definately says 'show all messages'. I emailed a cuple of people who had emailed me and one replied and the next minute the email had vanished.

I've tried moving a couple of past emails from another folder back into my 'Inbox' but I move them and check my inbox and they are not there and not in the folder I just moved them from.

I received an email from my customer asking her to resend and one minute it was there, I went to reply and then it had gone.

I am seeing emails come in, then they vanish.

I've looked ino my Junk Mailbox - they are not in there either.

Can anyone tell me what might be happening please and how I rectify it please as I use this for my business email. Thanks.

Hi there, im no techie but had this done to me before,, only way it could have & did happen was someone else was logged into my account reading & deleting them,,

Hope its not happening to yours though

Thanks for answering. I don't think it is that to be honest, more something to do with downloading Service Pack 2 as I did that tonight - has to be more than a co-incidence.

Hubby did a test email and I was able to read that but if I click into another folder and come back then the email has gone. I've checked and definately looking at Current View but I also have a selection of read and unread emails in my inbox so it is not hiding one or the other, just everything that comes in now.

I suspect Windows Live Mail is deleting them from the server. Who is your e-mail acount with? i.e. hotmail, g-mail etc? This doesn't happen with hotmail, but if you right click the e-mail account in WLM, go to advanced, make sure "leave a copy on server" is checked and "delete from server after x days" is unchecked.

Thanks for the advice, after posted this last night I restored my system to before the update, still missing. So I downloaded Windows Mail Live (was only on Windows Mail before), still missing.

I went through my system and looked on the 'recent emails' list and they were all in there. I dropped and dragged the ones I needed into the Live Mail Inbox and now I have them all.

What a nightmare!! I'll go and adjust the settings as you suggest moneygrabber, initially I thought they were being deleted but the ones disppearing are new ones and the old ones are still there.

I've got what I need now but it added a few hours onto my night and got to bed well after 12.30 after I had finished doing all of that.

I forgot to say that the email is the one linked to my website [EMAIL="'sales@......com'"]'sales@......com'[/EMAIL] I am not sure where I would pick them up if I was not getting them into my inbox, something I'll have to sort out in case it happens again.
