Lump sum - what to do with it while at uni??

This has probably been covered before to a death on this forum but can't seem to find anything relevant.
I've just got a windfall from my share save scheme and want to invest it in some kind of savings scheme, however, i'm planning to jack in my job and get myself an education. What i want to do is put the money into an account/scheme and take so much out per month by direct debit whilst at uni so i won't be quite so skint while at uni. Any suggestions or is anyone doing something similar and come across a good scheme?
