90 day diabetic travel insurance

Am off to Sacramento on 17 Dec 2009 returning to Edinburgh on 16 March 2010. Does anybody know of an insurance company who gives a decent quote on pre existing diabetes 1 conditon. I have just had a quote for £665 from Travel Surgery. More than my flights!

What's your age and what type of diabetes do you have?
  • I am 45 and have Diabetes 1. Have had it for 33 years and am reasonable to well controlled.

Try Allclear Travel Insurance and Medici Travel, both who specialise in covering pre-existing medical conditions.
The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.

Try looking at Annual Multi Trip Policies with a maximum single trip of 90 days or more. I just had a look at Citybond who a lot of brokers use. Their price with a maximum trip of 100 days is £142.76 without any loading for your Diabetes. If your interested in Citybond they also have other trading names for direct purchases.

As well as being cheaper it will cover any future trips in the twelve month trip.

Try googling "Annual Travel 90 days" or similar
  • Thanks very much, will give them a go.
  • Many thanks

    Try Post Office (Fortis insurtance)

I deal with travel insurance claims and they are a great insurer.

    Other Advice - avoid AXA!
