father in law is due to fit a new solid wood floor in our smallish bathroom.
we have a grey 3piece suite at the mo and would ideally like to surprise the wife by getting new white units installed.
father in law has previously done his own bathroom but did not install his new stuff as some major plumbing required and they fitted it.
how easy is it to fit a new suite?
i am a confident diy-er.
is there anything i should be wary of?
anything i need to do to prepare for the refurb?
are most fittings universal etc etc.

Am due to replace my grey suite too, in the next couple of months so will watch this one with interest.
Unlike you I'm not a confident DIYer and have waited for nearly 2 years until finally getting a solid recommendatoin for a trustworthy plumber (that 3 different families have been very happy with.)
Have been looking at the plumbcentre http://www.plumbcenter.co.uk and have downloaded their PDF solutions brochure.
Even though my budget is limited I might visit showroom stores in London who show roomsets so that you can visualise everything. There is no way I could afford one of these bathrooms but for ideas it could be worth a trip.
Places for ideas: free planning service at https://www.colourwash.co.uk in Wimbledon and beautiful roomsets apparantly..., https://www.bathstore.com showroom in the city is 4,500 sq feet and they guarantee to beat any written quote, https://www.cphart.co.uk 10,000 sq feet at Waterloo.. .have heard it's really unusual & pricey, https://www.astonmathews.co.uk have over 2000 lines, and https://www.justaddwater.co.uk in a converted warehouse near Kingscross is supposed to be really good for ideas, https://www.sittingprettybathrooms.co.uk have Edwardian, Victorian ideas, and https://www.abacusbathrooms.co.uk are a no frills outfit going for 50 years with alot of space saving suites.
Places for good prices: Wickes seem to be the cheapest I've heard of so far.. not finished this hunt yet....
