advice on buying a new computer

Hello people,
I currently have an old computer.
Compaq presario
AuthenicAMD, AMD-K6(tm) 3D processor
56.0mb ram
As you can see very old.
I have £300 max to spend on a new computer any reccommendations would be appreciated.
I use it for interenet and only play games like football manager games but want a decent spec well anthing would be better than i have now.

If it includes monitor you may struggle unless you can one of those cheap Dell deals that often appear on the Quick Grab it While You Can forum. Adding a dvd writer is relatively cheap these days. You can certainly get a base unit for that price even on the high street.0

PC World are getting rid of some reconditioned stock at the moment which include monitors and CDRW

It's a pretty basic system but compared to your old one it's a rocket ship. It's ideal for browsing the internet and running office applications AND it's right on your budget
If you do decide to go for this I would check out whether you are able to upgrade the RAM without invalidating the warranty as it could really do with an extra 128mb.0 -

This is about your pricerange and its not a bad spec. Obviously another £100 woud get you a better processor or more memory, a bigger hard drive etc
