Hi
I bought my son a Nintendo Wii from Asda in June this year. It was on special offer. I am hoping to give it to him for xmas. I recently tried out a game I bought on the wii. It would not come up on the menu all it said was 'Please insert disc' & I pressed the eject button but it will not come out. I have tried reset & unplugging the wii but it still does not work.
I still have my receipt so can I get an exchange from the store?
It is so close to xmas. Most of his presents are for the wii & he will be so upset if he does not get it in time for xmas.
And do you have to take it to the same one I bought it from or can it be from any Asda locations?
What are my right?

as you bought it in June it will be very difficult to get an instant replacement. It will be more likely that it will need to be sent off for repair which can take a few weeks to get back.0 -
Easiest for you would be to call up Nintendo direct, they do all the repairs to the consoles for pretty much all retailers.
If you took it into Asda, you'd be sent home with their helpline number, most probably.
Try here: http://www.nintendo.co.uk/NOE/en_GB/support/wii_support_5251_8104.htmlSquirrel!If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.
Now 20% cooler0 -
hi Emms you are entitled to a replacement. if a product develops a fault within six months of purchase it is assumed that the fault was present when sold, after this six month period the burden of proof is on the consumer to prove the fault was present at sale. you say june so are around the six month period, they will probably try and fob you off back to the manufacturer as it comes with a one year manufacturer's warranty, but as you purchased the console from morrisons you have a contract of sale with them and they must replace it with it being less than a year since the purchase. they will probably try and send you back to nintendo though, i would ask to speak to a manager straightaway as your rights are under the Sale of Goods Act 1979 and the till staff are trained to tell customers to go back to the manufacturer. hope this helps0

No she isnt entitled to a replacement.
Your advice will just make her look stupid and take longer to resolve the problem.
With the game consoles you are best calling the manufacturer. Nintendo will fix it quickly and probably throw in a free gift for the inconvenience.0 -

Unfortunately this is not fully correct.
If the unit is deemed to have been 'accepted' (normally 28 days after purchase, but this varies among products) then the retailer has to offer a repair/refund/replacement, but it is their choice.
If before it is accepted, you can demand a replacement or refund. You have technically not accepted it yet as it is unused, but proving it is going to be too hard.0
