  • I considered it, but there are very limited job chances weighed against the fees.

Initial Registration fee then annual payment - £66 (at Moment)
Each Exam registration fee - £72 (at the moment)

Study materials - depends entirely on how you want to do it, good materials from a provider like Kaplan with no tuition is probably about £200, if you go for weekend classes etc nearer £500/600.

I would budget for at least approximately £3000-£4000.

    Utter !!!!!

ACCA is a CCAB qualification. To go over a certain level in finance (about the 25k level) you will almost certainly need a CCAB qualification. The ACCA and CIMA ones are probably the best ones if you dont fancy the chartered accountant roles.
  • Thks a lot for your info.

I am hoping to be exempted from some exams, tried the link on ACCA website, don't seem to work. I have emailed them.

Another question is if I want to sit in the June exams, do I have to register with ACCA and inform them which exams I want to do by end of Dec? I don't want to miss the deadline and waste half a year.

    tks
  • I still can't post links on here (!) but if you go to www. kaplanfinancial .co.uk and you'll see a tab called 'Accountancy and Finance' below the main banner. From here, select ACCA and then you'll see a longer selection of choices down the left hand side. From here, select 'Dates, locations and prices' and it will take you to a page where you have three drop-down boxes.

Select ACCA for the top box, then leave the second box as it is and select Distance Learning for the third box and hit Go you'll have a number of links appear - if you click on the link for the Enrolment form a PDF will come up and all of the prices are on there.

The prices for Kaplan and BPP are broadly similar, so this will give you a good idea of the total cost.

If you can attend the taught revision courses then I'd thoroughly recommend it.
Despite the name, I'm actually a laydee!

I would imagine the deadline is likely to be around March/April for which exams you want to sit. You will need to register first. I would suggest leaving it until January the 1st on so you dont pay a fee now and then again in 2 weeks. That should register you in time for June.

Regarding exemptions. What qualifications do you have to date?

From what I have learnt - the registration fees, exam/exemption fees and study packs are quite reasonable.

As Anihilator says it is the tuition that can be quite expensive. Also Kaplan seems more expensive than BPP.

I am not sure when the deadlines are but I doubt it is Dec probably something like April - Just checked here and its 15th April - http://www.accaglobal.com/students/exams/entries

    for exemptions look here: http://www.accaglobal.com/join/exemptions/

you need to pay a fee for each exemption - it is upto you if you want to buy the corresponding books to have a look through and recap

In order to finally complete the qualification you also need to undergo a 3 year training contract: http://www.accaglobal.com/students/acca/per/

Not very easy to find these days but having done some exams it might be easier for you to get a job

I would suggest Kaplan are slightly better and justify the extra fee

Also you dont need a training contract as such, just a relevent job were you have a suitably qualified mentor to confirm your reaching the achievement goals (very easy)

I graduated with a bachelor degree in Accounting and Finance from a Belgium university. Not sure if ACCA will consider exemption for degree obtained from other European countries.

I'm an ACCA Accountant. Your best thing to do is phone ACCA and speak to them, get the number through the website, they are really helpful. You will need to register soon to sit in June 2010. The prices for registration are ok, exemptions are expensive and exams are fairly ok to sit, if you need a special centre ie if there's none in your area they charge you extra to sit locally!
BPP are fab the courses are excellent especially the weekend revision course, they get you through and have fab pass rates and well worth the money.
You will nedd 2 year practical experience though signed off by an accountant before you can actually qualify. You will find little employers willing to take you on if you have sat and passed the exams but have no experience.
