OFFICE shoes rip-off

Options
Be very careful buying shoes from Office online. In fact, I would strongly advise anybody not to do so at all. By their own admission, the sizes they advertise on their website are not the sizes of the shoes themselves. So, when they are delivered, you have to go to all the hassle of sending them back for a refund or replacement. In my case, they admitted they did not, and never have had, the shoe size I ordered (see below):
"The espadrilles are sized differently from the size guide on our website as different manufacturers have different size guides. On our website a size 11 is an Eu45 and a size 12 is an Eu46 but with the espadrilles an Eu45 is 10.5 and a Eu46 is an 11. A UK size 11 is the biggest size the espadrilles are sold in. So when you put an order through for a size 11 and 12 you will receive a size 10.5 and 11." (17 Nov 2009).
So, they admitted they did not stock the size 12 as advertised on their website. Further, their customer support people are rude and unfriendly. Don't touch them with a bargepole!

What size did you order and what size did you get? The guide seems clear enough to me.

I would hardly call this a rip off. Maybe poorly advertised sizing, but a rip off? No.

    another deluded OP
  • This was the reply to my complaint i.e. AFTER the shoes had been delivered. If you advertise that you sell size 12 shoes, deliver size 11 and then admit you don't stock size 12 at all, then that sounds like a rip-off to me.
  • as with anything in a size which is not standard then i would always try them on first....... working in the footwear industry i am well aware that sizes are random but what is a size 12 ...12 inches, 12 goats..... a lot of the problem is that people do not know what size they really are, the last time they got measured was when they were dragged by their mother for school shoes age 14.... shoe shops should measure feet properly but even that seems to be a thing of the past in most places.... if the world would move to mondopoint or metric sizing (like we have used in ski boots for years) then a lot of the problems would be solved

so IMO not a rip off, just poorly advertised /descibed

I take size 8 shoes, and what Office call a 42 (a size 8 in every other store) is actually a 7. They just don't do size 8's (which is actually an increasingly common size for women).

Their shoes are very, very narrow (in addition to not going up to a proper size 8)

  • I reckon the lessons learnt from CEM, who works in the shoe industry, is not to buy shoes online - and certainly not from OFFICE.

By the way, I am not sure what 'omen666' means by the rather terse contribution: 'another deluded OP'. Clearly, a comment that does nothing to add to the quality of this debate over a genuine issue. With nearly 1,000 posts clearly this person needs to get a life or medical help. Whoever, you are, I do hope you can get your problems sorted. My complaint is clearly minor compared to the issues you are facing.

Alternatively, you might consider being more constructive and/or polite in your next 1,000 posts. Being nice is FREE!
