Old Philips handset with new Panasonic base

Anyone had any joy with registering Philips Kala handsets to newer DECT phone cases (Panasonic, in my case)?
Both are supposed to be GAP compliant, meaning they should talk to each other, but the Philips handsets don't recognise the Panasonic base.
Be interested to know if others have had problems.
Thanks
David

I was on to Panasonic UK about the very same problem with their own previous models and a new model.
Got back a load of mumbo-jumbo nonsense. When you used to email Panasonic you got a reply (albeit a long wait) from someone who seemed to be an enginner -the reply I got seemed like it came from a guy raking through a skip at the back of a shut Woolworths.
Essentially, their very latest phones seem to fall outwith the GAP/DECT regulations. I don't know if that's against EU law or what but it's damn annoying.
This is the phone range I have KXTG84 www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5526084.htm
Best phone (dream phone!) I could ever imagine so I just gave away the old ones. Worth every penny.0 -
Interesting.
What's surprised me most has been the number of features omitted from the UK versions of phones compared to identical models sold in other markets.
My new Panasonic, for instance (same as yours, Jemma-T, but with mono display) has had shared phonebooks stripped out, as well as the ability to assign different ringtones to specific callers. (Even my old Philips phone had a basic version of the latter.) I discovered this because it turned out that the manual I downloaded before purchase was the International English one.
Presumably this has something to do with outdated restrictions placed on suppliers by BT when the network was privatised in the 1980s.0 -
I think you need to get my model to get a hold of the features you're talking about.
These phones are pretty darn cheap for what they do and the UK price is fab compared to my pricing at the time on mainland Europe.
And also pricing in the USA is similar. Just a good deal all in I think.
It's worth always downloading the full PDF userguide and searching (CTRL/F) for the exact word you're after eg "Block".
