Hi
I'm trying to replace the laser unit in my Logik LM104. Any idea how / where I can find the correct replacment unit?

Thanks

They don't list for that brand, but CPC stock about 60 types with pictures, maybe you can find the same type sold under another brand?
(They are all listed as Aiwa but probably many generics)
(maybe you can find a number on it with a magnifying glass that matches?)
Try here...

Thanks mate. I think it's this one. Part number matches and it's 16pin.

Hi
I got the replacement laser carriage unit and fitted it. I found it wouldn't engage a CD. The CD drive 'capstan' is a weird design and doesn't clip into the centre of a CD. I can't see and easy way of swapping them over, other than swapping the motors completely. Any ideas??
(The replacement is the one with the silver metallic insert.)

Swapping the motors would probably be your best bet. If the spin motors are identical, then an alternative would be to simply swap the cd table BUT if you do this you must make sure you set the height exactly as it is on the original, or the laser will have trouble focussing. 1mm out is too much.Try saying "I have under-a-pound in my wallet" and listen to people react!0

Is it financially worth replacing it?0

Yes, I've put together a list of all the things I'd like it to do, in order or priority. Mainly I'd like it to play CDs :rolleyes:Apparently I'm 10 years old on MSE. Happy birthday to me...etc0 -
lol I was just thinking if it s a PC CD-ROM drive then there are so many brand new OEM DVD rewritable units out there to choose from with good quality internals starting at very little more and then it is a brand new piece of kit with a 12 month warranty that was all :-)
I would imagine playing Cds would be a good idea lol :-)0 -
Yet if it was a Logik LM104 hifi system which for some reason I seemed to completely blank that fact out it would always be good to fix it as well lol.
I think I need to invest in some strong glasses lol
