ADvice Credit card for No credit history

Hi I have just moved back to the Uk after living overseas for 8yrs I am trying to apply for a credit card but as I don't have a credit history it is proving no go can you suggest any options for builing a credit rating with.
Concious if keep appying will effct rating even more
Got no adverse history not a bad payer just no history at all as we have been away for over 5yrs, just been accepted for Mortage at ridiculous rate due to this but at least it got through.

Advise please on good people to apply for loans and CC

    First off, get yourself on the electoral roll if not there already.

    As you have no history, I would get a subprime card like Vanquis. They charge high interest but pay it off in full each month and within 6-12 months you should become eligible for a more mainstream card.
