CCA Request Ignored - Letters Still Arriving

Options
Hello,

I'm currently disputing a debt from PPI insurance sold along with car finance (now with a debt collectors), I did the CCA request and sent off a cheque for £1, which they cashed, and things went quiet for a while but after about 6 months the letters started arriving again demanding money. I was advised to ignore any correspondence from them because they hadn't fulfilled their obligation to provide a Credit Agreement.

Roll on 4 years (yes 4 years!) and they have recently contacted an old work colleague of mine asking for my contact information saying they needed to serve papers (my understanding is that they want to issue a Statutory Demand). First thing I don't understand is that they have all my details anyway but surely they can't go discussing my account like this?

The alleged debt is nearly 5 years old so it's not statute barred but surely they can't issue a Statutory Demand whilst the debt is in dispute?

Any help or advice you can offer is much appreciated.

You seem to know what its for?

Or are you another one of societys scumbags who borrow then don't repay. What happened to the car?

Thank you for your help; the contract was for 4 years and the car was handed back after 2 years (as allowed by the agreement) but they insisted that the PPI must still be paid for a further 2 years.

My argument with them is that the PPI was not optional and it should never have been sold as I wasn't in employment for long enough for it to be valid.

I was quite happy to write it off as a bad experience but as they seem to keep pushing the issue I'm exploring the options to reclaiming the 2 years of payments that I did make.
