It was quite funny though. :p:D
  • I don't believe your OH's story one bit. I am assuming that your older children aren't his or he would presumably have some idea of what a daft thing he has done here.

If you don't want to be dealing with a new baby, nappies and bottles and dog mess and dog wee and slightly insecure children and shopping and hormones and walks and vaccinations and vet bills and cooking and cleaning and never being able to leave the house without wondering whether the sofa is being eaten and smelling of dog and baby sick and controlling nipping and dealing with people in the street who think you are irresponsible to have a baby and a puppy when a little boy has just been killed by one and getting proof that your staffie isn't actually a Pit Bull and therefore illegal...

    [gasps for breath]

You're going to have to do something about it now. How about suggesting you go and see the owner to hand it back - I bet you'll find that your OH has just bunged out a good couple of hundred pounds for it.
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.

OP, I'm with the rest on this one and you are sensible enough to see that you are not in the position to take on a pup at the moment.

If you do 'foster' the pup for a couple of weeks the kids are going to get attached, that's not fair when you have just had to give their cat away. Your OH is not being very fair either, I bet it will he YOU who has to give the pup back (just before Christmas!) and it will be YOUR fault that the kids are upset again.

The pup has to go back as soon as poss, if it is being bullied then it can go to it's new owners. It's not giving the pup the best start in life being pushed from pillar to post - even if the owner did think they were doing it for the best.

    Good Luck x
Some days you're the dog..... most days you're the tree! :D

OP - it realy bugs me so pls let me know.. does the owner of the pup provide all for the pup? Food, toilet training pads etc etc?

Because if not, this is not fostering...

Please go and talk to the owner yourself, do not rely on what your OH assures you of - only then you will find out what kind of set up you have landed in.

    All the best

I wonder if the owner/OP watched the recent documentary on TV about the poor woman who struggled to find homes for her Staffy pups just before xmas too ;)
