That's something my wife noticed immediately, and she still comments on it. The sound quality on Blu-ray is excellent.
i really notice it,i was watching terminator salvation the other day and the soundtrack was excellent
right from the off it was working the speakers
we are semi detached and i knew the neighbours were away and with me on my own it was rude not to crank it up0 -

what is terminator salvation like? the reviews said it was rubbish. i do like the first 3 films.
on the subject of the thread. i think how good blu ray looks can depend on how good your eyesight is because you can have a blu ray on and some people in the room will think it looks awesome and some wont be able to see any difference. i also think with some releases they dont do enough with them. we got dances with wolves recently and the dark scenes look awful. overall the picture is probably better than the dvd. i also think blu ray is the future. so i would stick with it.0 -

i thought it was alright,i dont really read reviews to be honest and just give films a chance
its a different twist to the old storyline and a few nods to the old films0 -
people seem to always talk about the image quality of bluray
what about the sound? for anyone with a separate audio set up im sure they will; back me up how much bluray adds to the sound
Depends more on your equipment. I have quite a substantial pre amp and normal Dolby and DTS sound that good that blurays are only a slight step up for me:idea:0 -
well surely a high end set up would highlight the extra audio data more
Actually, the reverse is usually true. SACDs for example ~ cds sound so good on a decent system that audiophiles complained about the 'slight' stepup in quality to SACD (Or even a backwards step in some cases)
Im not saying that hidef sound is worse, but its just not that great a stepup on a very good system. If you could hear just how great 'normal' DTS and DD could sound then youd have some idea of what im talking about.:idea:0 -

You're correct. Both Dolby HD and DTS HD are lossless formats supporting 24 bit/192 kHz audio. Plan old Dolby and DTS use lossy compression schemes.
Of course, regular Dolby and DTS will sound better on a good system than a bad one, but this doesn't negate the quality of either DTS HD or Dolby HD.0 -
OP also mentioned viewing angle problems... sounds like you just got the wrong TV.0

I wonder what theyll call the next Dolby and DTS formats if they claim these are 'already' lossless:idea:0 -

Lol….I can't see sampling rates getting any higher than that. They already exceed the limits of human hearing by quite a considerable amount.
Many pros even think 192 kHz is a waste of time.0
