Try having a google for the car you want. We dont know what is local to you
Just put in a car spec and your local area and see what comes up.
Then theres autotrader and ebay as you say.0 -

Don't really know what I want, not too bothered as long as it gets from A to B pretty
cheaply, basically I want to have a look at what is 'on the market to see if anything catches my eye and get an idea of what to expect for my money.Toffs laying into the less well off? Surely not!!

I had to look twice at your message. Go to a garage and buy there. Unless you are savvy about cars (and who is these days?) you run a great risk of taking on someones elses rubbish. At least at a garage you have some redress for a 'lemon'.0

I wasn't sure about it either.
Did it mean the best places on line to find cars to then go and view or the best places to buy cars unseen on line?
I agree about not buying without viewing.0 -
Why don't you look on autotrader and let it search for any cars in your price bracket and area, then you'll get an idea of what you can buy for your money.

Garages can be just as bad as private sellers when it comes to selling cars
Just make sure you check the history of the car, use your common sence when viewing the advert, ie grammer, price, pictures.
Give the seller a call and ask questions about the car and make sure you read some guides, and the learn the common faults of the car your looking to buy, take a friend when viewing, etc.
Edit: Forgot to add, haggle! I got £500 of my last car before id even viewed it!0
