Usually at weddings the rows between relatives, bridesmaids, and drunken distant cousins provide more than enough entertainment for all.
Why do you feel wedding guests have to be entertained by hypnotists etc ?.....................I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

A couple we are friends with had a magician called Paul Megram at their wedding and he was fantastic, it's worth having a look on themagiccircle.co.uk for magicians in your area0

Saw ballon dancers at a Manchester wedding reception. 30 minutes at best though0

Don't know your budget but I saw this guy do some stuff a while back at a corporate do - http://www.johncremer.co.uk/ he got people up on stage to improvise etc and was absolutely brilliant. I normally don't like that sort of thing and only went along because it was expected but I was in tears from laughing, as was my even more cynical colleague.0

I went to a wedding with a ceilidh band, and someone teaching everyone the dance steps. Some were a little reluctant at first, but there was no pressure to join in, and by the end, nearly everyone was up on their feet having a great time!
I like the idea of a magician, particularly if the food involves tables having to wait in turns to get served.

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -

this might be a better board for you, lots of people there asking the same questions, or who will know the answers already.:D
I had a great time at a wedding with a ceilidh, but then I'm in Scotland, lots of folk from other countries there, and they joined in wholeheartedly and h ad a great time. Stops the excessive drinking too if guests have something to do at night time'do';)Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

'Comedy John'! Brilliant comedian, was introduced to him by a mutual friend and laughed more in one show than in the previous year, literally :rotfl:Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants - Michael Pollan

We decided to go for a band at our Wedding. After trawling agency websites on the net, we eventually took a risk by going for a group we'd never seen before called 'Munch'. So glad we did it. (I can't paste links but have a look at alivenetwork . com and search for MUNCH).
We got married in 2006 @ Durham Castle, they fitted the venue so well. I recall them being a lot cheaper then than what they are quoting now but I were definitely worth the money. They were absolutely brilliant though, lots of guest were asking them business cards so that they could maybe hire them too.
They're from Liverpool, if I remember right, so they're local..ish to you.
We also hired a caricaturist (sorry can't recall his name or details). We hired for 2 hours from 7-9pm as evening guests arrived. He was good, certainly filled some time and entertained our guests.0
