Maybe they think you are overcommitted?
It would be worth doing a credit check, there are normally offers to have it for free.

Very codes never seem to work for me, even when they are sent to my inbox, or when someone else opened a new account to use a code for new customers.
I've given up. Maybe I'll try again with one of the codes given by the helpful posters here
