Olympus 1GB XD card

hi all

I'm currently trying to buy an XD card for my brother who's just bought an Olympus digital camera.

Had a search on the net for "Olympus 1GB XD card" - using Kelkoo and Pricerunner, and going to individual sites - but loads come back.

Type M
Type H
with Panorama Function
High-speed

Does anyone know the differnce?

This tells you the difference: -

The panoramic ones are needed to do the panoramic 'stitching' done by some olympus cameras in conjunction with their software. They'll work for ordinary photos, too.

Note that Olympus say type H and type M don't work in all cameras.

Panorama is an Olympus Only feature that works only with their memory card. I cannot confirm whether it works with normal XD cards.

H is a high speed card some cameras dont support the high speed facility but a higher megapixel camera needs quicker memory cards as the file sizes eing writen are bigger.

M is the standard card the older cards didnt have any letter but the newer cards do and it is an indication that they are newer cards that can have increased capacity up to 8GB aparently.

Panoramic function is somthing that only the geniune olympus cards will do the other option is to buy a Fuji card no cost difernece I dont think the panoramic function is nothing to do with the camera it is the software Olympus ship that checks to see if you are using an olypmus card I use a fuji card and use photoshop elements to make my panoramic pictures.

If I was looking for another card I would buy a 1GB H and not be too bothered if it was olympus or fuji becasue I do panoramic shots another way anyway.

Have a look at the Fuji XD cards as well as they are cheaper than the Olympus cards. I have one in my Olympus and it works fine, the only thing is the Fuji cards do not have a panorama function.
