Suggestions for replacement automatic

Sadly I was heavily rear ended on Friday in my beloved Civic coupe
It is a 97 model and I've already been told it will be a write off before it has been looked at because of its age and knowing the damage on it, I know that was already a foregone conclusion.
I want to start looking at replacement choices. It has to be automatic, I prefer coupe style (but wouldn't rigidly stick to that) but only do very low mileage each year - around 2.5-3k. Reliability and safety are the most important thing to me rather than badge. I don't want something huge like an old Merc or something tiny like a Smart car.
I doubt the insurance offer will be over £1200 but I'd be willing to put a little more to it and my top budget would be 3k. I saw a couple of Focus' but they were around the 3,600-3,800 so think they'd be out of my range (if that is they are thought to be reliable etc)
I liked my Honda and would replace it with another civic coupe and buy a bit younger model but they aren't that readily findable from skim reading autotrader so am looking at what other options there are.
I'm gutted about the car as I have really looked after it

Is the car in such a bad state.
Ask if you can buy it back from them if its a easy repair.

sadly it's in a bit of a state
My OH is quite good with cars and has said it's not worth doing otherwise I'd keep it and have it sorted as I really like it. It's bumper, boot, a piece between the bumper and the lights and the metal 'framework' of the back of the car behind the bumper. I opened the boot to clear it out yesterday and it's leaking in where it's damaged  and it doesn't now shut properly.
