Can I find a sub-£450 PC with 4GB RAM?

Dear all, my maximum budget is £450 and I was wondering if it is enough to buy a PC which is equipped with 4GB RAM. I suppose 4GB RAM is a safe requirement if you want to play sports games like Fifa or Pro Evolution Soccer.

My sincere thanks,

Quynh

How much have you allocated for the monitor?

A suitable graphics card and a decent processor is what you need. Example.
  • A good GPU and 2GB would be better than $GB and a crappy GPU.

Quadcore, 4GB RAM, windows 7 £380 ebuyer. com/product/176495 use the rest to buy a GPU.

Honestly though you would be better of building it yourself.

RAM is generally quite cheap and it's something that's easy to upgrade yourself later.

Personally, the amount of RAM that came with a system wouldn't enter into my decision making process one bit.

It's rather like buying one car over another because it has more petrol in the tank.

dont forget its what speed the ram runs at aswell, try and get 800MHz +, 1066MHz if you can afford it. But i agree with the comments about the GPU this is the most imporant thing along with the CPU for gaming.

Another thing to remember is that only a 64-bit operating system will be able to use more than about 3 GB of your memory, regardless of however much you have physically installed...

RAM costs about £35 for 2GB, think about it, it isnt much and is easy to fit yourself.

Thank you for all your kind advice. Now I understand better, that RAM may not be so significant as I had thought.

This is the specs that I think I need, based on the computer at work (which I found is very fast and efficient). It seems that 2GB RAM is enough.

    Processor
    3.00 gigahertz Intel Core2 Duo
    64 kilobyte primary memory cache
    64-bit ready
    Multi-core (2 total)

Intel(R) Q45/Q43 Express Chipset [Display adapter]

    Memory: 1978MB RAM

Hard drive: not important, as I have a 1TB external drive.

How much do you think it should cost to have these specs?

Please, we have already given you examples way in excess of your specification.

Your specs are quite close to nonsense.

Which versions? At last count there are at least nine iterations of each with steadily increasing system requirements.

Realistically you will either need to build your own PC or spend more cash. No main stream PC vendor will sell a PC to suit this properly cheaply. They aroe too tight.
TBH buy a console and leave the PC for everything else. That way you will get the graphics on offer without either good PC setup or a deep pocket.
Without a monitor, keyboard or mouse - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=FS-180-OK&groupid=43&catid=1445&subcat= £499.00 inc OS will run it all easily. Not a lot of fat to trim off that either.
