Why does it have to be SD?

Budget presumably? I don't think there are any HD Camcorders for that sort of price except for the various Flip models, Kodak Zi8 etc. They're OK but a bit limited in what they can do.

I've always been happy with Panasonic camcorders, in fact I've justorderd a new HD one.

Something like this may suit. Or for £12 more there's this which has a 70x Optical Zoom instead of the 10x zomm of the previous one.

I see the Panasonic HD camcorders start at about £200 but then go up to over £1000. Have you any tips on buying one? I don't want to spend alot but I don't want rubbish.

Some features you need and some you don't.

I have been quite happy with my Canon but I fancy having a go at HD.

this one looks great for the price, same frame rate and resilution as more expensive ones, so long as you dont need a longer zoom function id consider this one. cant see a stability option tho for the shakey stevens....

    This is what I ordered.

    Panasonic SD10

Haven't received it yet so I haven't had a play with it but the reviews all seem positive and it's tiny so hopefully will get used more as it will be far easier to carry around.
