Do you read self-help type books about geting rich? I've read the richest man in babylon, which was good, and made me realise that your dreams can be achieved.
If you have limiting self-beliefs such as 'that won't work in the real world' then of course it won't happen. It DOES happen, look at entrepreneurs. It doesn't happen more often because most people believe it can't!
So why aren't I rich yet, if I know all this? It takes a lot of determination, and bloody hard work, and I'm in my comfort zone at the mo, with a reasonable job and ok savings etc. Is it any wonder you hear rags to riches stories more than middle class to riches stories? You have to want it really badly e.g. Oprah, Madonna....
I think you should go for it, Kevicho, and keep us posted on your progress! If you think you can do a thing or think you can't do a thing, you're right - Henry Ford0 -
Kev, you sound like my new boss.
After having bosses who were lazy and rubbish and took the credit for everything the employees did, I said I'd never work for anyone again. And I didn't, for 2 whole years
I'm still running my own little biz, but a couple of weeks ago I started working for someone I've known for 18 years, he's mr troo's best mate and he had the same problems I did with employers. He set up a limited company (with someone he used to work with) a couple of years ago and they get busier by the week, they're actually moaning that there's too much work and not enough time lol. They're great with their employees and show respect, and the employees respect them right back
We need more people like you :TBulletproof0 -
Thanks guys for all the posts, I hope I can inspire some of you as well
at the moment im contracting, but I have lined up an IT business which i will be going into a partnership for, this would already be running if i wasnt in debt.
Im using my debt at the moment to practisce my cash flow skills and management skills in its simplist form, all i need to do is apply the same principles but just in a larger scale.
My main plan is to surround myself with advisors, and helpers, and to continue researching and learning every possible opportunity.
If you have seen my pub leasing i already have one businessman interested in helping finance (for a share of course) and i also spent an hour talking to a current landlord regarding my ideas, all in exchange for a pint.
That will probably be the most worthwhile pint ever.
I dont expect to become a millionaire overnight, i am very realistic about my plans, but thats not to say i think its not possible.
I really do beleive most bosses are borderline incompetant, certainly the ones ive worked with/for, very few have impressed me, nearly none of them have made sure their staff feel important.
And all of those businesses suffered for it.
My team will be built up of people who will be competant, but i will make sure that they are rewarded, even if it means paying that little extra as your staff matter.
Without them the company is nothing.
My plans also involve making sure every part of the business has an easy to follow set of systems or rules, im quoting "rich dad" here, but the most successful business succeed thanks to systems that anyone can run such as mcdonalds.
Hence the staff always being students.
Also personally my aim is to invest in shares and real state, maybe even buy into other companies, but i will make sure again i have the right advice when i come to that stage.
Finally on an unrelated topic, I want to create a website which is a bit more comprehensive than this one, not to compete, but compliment it.
Covering topics (with flash animations), such as creating an SOA, effective snowballing, looking at ways to maximize budgets and so on.
If anyone would like to help or write some sections then that would be great.
I feel the internet is a great source for info, and doing a more interactive version of this site would save me posting repeatedly and also the informatioon would be more likely to remain in peoples heads.
I really want to keep busy
All the best

Definately go for it! If you believe in something strongly enough you can make it happen! I think you have the right idea in taking care of your future staff. Good Luck!0

This is gonna sound really corny or like something out of a book but I honestly believe the richest people are those that have their health and are surrounded by their loved ones!

Yes I would like to have enough money to live my dreams and be well off for the rest of my life but I would only want that aswell as the above. Not in place of it!
But thinking about it, I would swap all that for a few million!

As for comments of whether it can happen or not, I go by the following saying;
I'd rather aim high and fail, than aim low and succeed.
Good luck mate. I'll take an MD role when your up and running!

It might sound corny but it is so true, I was really ill last year and I thought for a while that I would not be able to get back to fulltime work, I would miss my health more than my salary cheque.0 -
