New Government help Scheme for certain students - Passport to Learning

Options
I have done a search on this and couldn't find it anywhere so I hope I'm not repeating information.

Passport to Learning is a scheme which is being piloted in certain areas of the UK at the moment. It aims to offer help for certain students who fit criteria and incur certain costs relating to their courses.

I have Googled it but I can't find any info on it on the web. I met with a rep today for this who said that because I am paying fee's for my correspondence course I will be able to claim back some of those fee's. The criteria you have to fit is one of these:

Female,
Lone Parent,
Long Term Unemployed,
Aged 16 - 18 but not elidgable for full time education,
English not first language,
Ex offender,
Ex convict,
Asylum seeker

If you are doing a course which incurs fees or costs such as tuition fees, childcare costs, travel costs, uniform or protective clothing costs etc etc.

I got the details from asking for help at the local Job centre who put me onto them.

Sorry I can't give more conclusive information at the moment. I've registered on it today and should be getting an info pack soon so hopefully I will have more info then.

    lol, i like the criteria.

i hate this country so much, actually no, i hate the government so much, what crap... i remember someone being prosecuted because they advertised at a job centre as "must speak english", but its fine for the government to offer cash based on your gender?

and personally, it sounds like the same crap as EMA, as usual i get screwed because my parents work their !!!!!! off to earn a bit more, saving for me to go to uni, so i dont get rewarded for doing well as college - welcome to New Labours Britiain.

    i love ranting :)
