Who needs to be informed about DLA?

I'm geting myself confused, so if someone could clarify a point for me?......I have just been awarded DLA (Lower rate for both mobility and care). I also claim IB and Housing Benefit. Do I need to inform anyone about my DLA?....I don't think DLA sohould have an effect on IB or HB, but they do say to inform them of any change in circumstances....does DLA count as a change?

Ive always found the best thing to do when in doubt is tell them anyway, that way you have covered yourself incase anything happens. It shouldnt affect any of your claims but if you let them know just do a quick letter or phone the relevant departments.

You definately need to let your local authority know to make sure that you are getting all the premiums you are entitled to. DLA income itself is disregarded but there are circumstances where it can make you better off, it will never make you worse off

It hadn't occured to me that I might be better off! I am about to claim Income Support (the princely sum of £2 a week....but every penny helps!)....I'm not aware that there are premniums for IB and HB available. Can anyone help on this? (I have a Social Worker who's supposed to help me find out about these things.... but he doesn't seem to know as much the people on here!)

And I'll get my mum to contact the various departments and let them know about the DLA...as you say, better to make the calls than not!

There are not premiums on IB but there can be premiums on IS.
