I don't know how we would have managed without our new underblanket because as advertised it did wonders for our Tempur mattress despite my concerns after reading Tim's post. So sorry Tim I have to say you were wrong on this occasion, we have the 25cm mattress and it is still as effect with the underblanket on, much to our delight as it can be so cold when you first get into bed but this is a thing of the past now and we don't want to get up in the morning. We struggled before but it is even harder now, LOL.

My statement wasn't an opinion, it is a fact that memory foam needs your body heat to react with it, and it won't work properly if the underblanket insulates it from your body heat.

In your case you are happy with it, but other people may not be happy with the reduced support.

I've just been looking on Sleepcheaper, and I thought I should let you all know this:

I don't know if their pricing formula is different for other products, but their mattresses are very expensive. An example is £125 for a 5.5" deep reflex foam mattress. This would be at the bottom end of budget mattresses http://www.sleepcheaper.co.uk/acatalog/PostureForm_deluxe.html

So it might be worth shopping around for other products also.

    Hi Tim

I wasn't convinced to begin with but within a few days I was sure the support level hasn't been compromised at all. My husband was happy from day 1.

We love our Tempur mattress but in the winter it was so cold when first getting into bed but not any more. I can't speak for other memory foam mattresses as this is the only one we have experience of. We have had it 4 yrs in March and before purchasing it I used to suffer with knee and back problems, still get the odd twinge in my back but I very rarely experience pain in my knee now.

As you say, anyone considering purchasing one of these mattresses would be wise to take the trial offer to see for themselves.

The only way you would get anywhere near the same support would be if the wool underblanket was so thin that it lets most of the heat through.

You do know that Tempur came out bottom in the which magazine report don't you? They may be good, but they are far from the best. For better support and ventilation you would be better off with pocket springs/memory foam.

Just read though the comments ... looks like SleepCheaper will get my custom. However, as one who (rarely) leaps before I look, could I please ask for your opinion on purchasing a mattress and an underblanket from SleepCheaper?
Looking for a double bed size so a comparison with other firms and taking quality into account, figures would be appreciated. Just the names of other firms offering quality memory foam type mattresses would be appreciated.
We went on the "free" trip and enjoyed the day out, accepting the fact that the trip, the couple of hours of freeedom walking around the town, and a couple of glasses of wine, water or orange juice were worth the time watching the presentation. :hello:

I bought a tempur mattress, and I hated it. I feel there is no support at all (I have a bad back) It was quite an expensive mattress, :( and it is now relegated to the spare room. One of the worst things I have ever bought! I know lots of people rave about them, but the mattress did nothing for my back pain at all.

It is possible yes. Some people do find that wool makes them itch, no matter how soft. You might be better off with a synthetic under blanket.

Out of interest, what type of mattress are you using it on?
