Welcome to the forums. It helps if you give as much info as you can i.e. operating system etc.

What security do you have on your system? i.e. firewall, anti-virus, anti-spyware etc.

Sounds like Spywarequake. It trys to trick you into buying supposed anti-malware software.

    Removal instructions here.

More worryingly, how did this get on your system? Can you confirm the following

    1. What firewall you have?
    2. What anti-virus software you have?
    3. Any other anti-baddie software e.g. Spybot, Ad-Aware, Windows Defender etc ....
    4. How you connect to the internet - broadband or dial-up?

LOL:rotfl: Wasn't thinking of a mucky site ... thought you would have no firewall or summat ;)

Worrying .... Spywarequake is a Trojan and your firewall should have blocked it - unless you accidentally let it through, thinking it was something else. I'm not familiar with EZ so I don't even know if it blocks automatically or gives you the option to "block" or "allow". If you clicked on "allow", it would effectively have let the Trojan in.

You can test your firewall using Shields Up and it might reveal that all is not as it should be.

Winfixer 2005 needs removing! It's spyware - I'll try to find a good link that shows how to remove it - meanwhile you could look at the Security threads at the top of this forum board for good suggestions at keeping pc clean.

I actually suggest the one that was posted a few posts above

    http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=4015

the sites malware guide does not always remove this infection

Smitfraud will (unless it is a very new variation)

when finished do the last bit

    11) Reboot back into Windows. (Normal Mode)
    • Double click HijackThis.exe.
    • Hit None Of The Above, just start the program.
    • Hit Scan.
    • When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log" button.
    • Click that, save the log somewhere.
Copy/paste into your own new topic.
    • c:\rapport.txt
    • Ewido log
    • The HJT log
and post the logs here for me to check them
