Turning off power to Burglar Alarm?

Hi all,

I've just moved into a rented flat which contains a burglar alarm system, which we are unable to set as the landlord has never been able to find out the relevant codes. The system is wired in to the mains, and the sensors are constanly on and flashing, but the control box just says 'unset'. Will the alarm go off if we turn off the power at the mains? I appreciate that this would be the case if it was set, but would that still happen when unset?

The sensors are bright and are annoying in the bedroom at night!

Thanks,

Gillby

Put a bit of sticky tape over the annoying sensors?
I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.

If you turn the mains off the panels internal battery will take over and run down after several hours. You will then lose the 'flashing' lights in the detectors...............

BUT the external sounder should be fitted with its own battery which will then allow the siren/bell to sound. This could last for hours, so you then need to either get up to the sounder and disconnect that battery, or wait for it to run down.

You therefore could do as suggested and put some tape over the detectors,

or another tongue in cheek suggestion is stop moving around....lol
and if you turn the mains back on the internal sounder may operate and you will need the code to silence it.

You may be wiser to tell us what panel and someone could tell you how to reset/reprogramme the codes
