Signed for, but not received

I recently bought some bed sheets from wallacesacks.com. They were quite expensive really even though they were in the sale. Anyway...

I received an email from them on the 30th of November to say they had been despatched. The item was being delivered to my offices.

Several days later I emailed WallaceSacks.com as I became concerned that my order had not arrived.

I was told that the order had been signed for, by someone with the second name Carter, which was immediately concerning because I know no-one of that name.

Where do I stand with regards to my rights in this situation. I've asked everyone in the offices I work about an item and no-one can place a 'Carter'.

The email that WallaceSacks sent to me states:

If you are out when we deliver, we may where possible, leave your parcel(s) in a safe place or with a neighbour. If we are unable to deliver the driver will leave a card and return the parcel(s) to the depot.

Who decides what is / who is a safe delivery place? The driver? Anyone could say they know me or take it off them!?!

I must say, I'm not suggesting that WallaceSacks are at fault here, it's DHL or DTS or whoever.

Any advice please?

    If you gave them a work address and they have delivered to that work address then I htink you may struggle a bit here as the courier has done what they were suppsoed to.

    I would start with the courier though ask them for details of the delivery as made, can they confirm that they delivered to the exact address shown on the despatch note.

  • If it was Royal Mail, you can ask them for a copy of the signature (just to prove it was delivered as claimed).

    Who was the courier ?
  • The courier was DPS

    I don't think the signature proves anything in this instance. The fact that the name is wrong could mean that the courier has just made it up, or it could mean that the person receiving the goods signed a false name and took them.
