In my vast experience of all types of pay day loans online and not online, Quick Quid have got to be the nicest most reasonable ones I have ever dealt with. The online chat facility is great and I think they are American, their customer service is a breath of fresh air.
Without sounding too like Michael and saying something that it is too late for - next time don't just default on the loan, contact them first and say you are having difficulty. In all my years of thousands of debt the idea of simply not paying still horrifies me.
It is easy to get in a viscious cycle with these things and borrow more than you can pay back. I managed to pay QQ off over £700 eventually, and now I am such a valued customer it is something like £13 to borrow £100. A lifesaver on that day when you are skint and have unavoidable bills, but pretty scary in the long run. I ran out of extensions this month and had to pay back the total £300, 3 days later I borrowed it off them again instead of even trying to survive a month without it. So I am back to square one.
Yes I realise sometimes you feel you have to take a loan but there is always alternatives. You can call the job center and arrange an interest free crisis loan of which they will take back off you out of any benafits you are due in small payments. Like your situation if you have taken out a loan with quick quid then even £13 interest on a months loan is vastly high and eventually the interest adds up if you extend. I'm not saying don't use these companies but what I am saying is please think of all alternatives first and payday companies should be a last resort. Off my own experience I believe it to be very difficult to get out of the cycle once you are locked in with these payday companies.0 -
I really appreciate that you are helping people and suggesting alternatives. I earn £25,000 a year. Do you think the Jobcentre will help me? No. I am not being ungrateful and I think your posts are very helpful but this one example shows you can't give advice without knowing someone's full details. I know £13 interest a month is hhigh but when you are sat there with electric bills saying they are going to cut you off and credit cards threatening Court, it really is a small price to pay. Unhealthy attitude I know but hopefully I am getting there with them now. I owe moneyshop £100 (manageable some month I am sure) Payday UK £300 - I have just emailed them asking for some kind of arrangement as I pay to defer every month £50, money down the drain and QQ £300 will try something similar with them. So if anything this thread has inspired me to sort myself out so thanks OPDebt Free Wannabe by 1 January 2016

I earn 34k a year and have taken out a crisis loan just a few months ago when I thought I was going bankrupt. Luckily I taken some very good advice from here, CAB and national debt line. All situations are managable if advice is taken from the right places.
I do agree that without knowing full details it is impossible to give advice that is 100% relevant but if I don't help the OP but end up helping somebody else that reads this thread then it is worthwhile.
I will however stick to my original opinion that is that anybody that uses Payday loan companies needs to take action on their finances be it precautionary or immidiate action.
I also appreciate that there is all good intentions in both of your posts and there is no need to fall out over it.0 -
Hi, i can't quote for some reason as it asks me to log in each time.
LegalBlonde - i contacted QQ well in advance of the full payment not going through. Their advice was to extend the loan until i could pay it in full but as you know, that just increased the debt even more. When the original loan wasn't paid, they extended it anyway. The reloan defaulted.
I offered to pay the loan over 5 months, they wanted 4 and won't budge so i have now asked for their paypal details so i can pay my offered payments plus any extra where i can. I have items on Ebay and i'll use that money to clear off more of the QQ balance.
To give some background, until September, i had a full time job and an evening job in a pub 4 evenings a week to clear extra off of my debts. I ended up in hospital with chest pain and was diagnosed with an irregular heartbeat and am now on medication. The stress of working 8am - 5.30pm then going to work at the pub for 6pm til 1am - 4 days a week had caught up with me so i had to quit the part time job.
This meant i was £400 a month worse off and that's why i decided to try to take control of the payday loans.
Michael, thanks for your advice. I am honestly grateful it's just some of these loan companies have spoken to me in the past like a child and it's left me with a bit of a chip on my shoulder.
Payday UK were one of the first that i paid off when i sold my car so i haven't any experience of them i'm afraid.
QQ - after a struggle, they will go to 3 months, they even stretched to 4. It does take a while to get them to agree though.
Good luck though0 -
Thanks so much I am really sorry to hear about what happened to you and hope you get sorted and back on your feet soon. Sometimes I think all this debt/recession etc is a good thing as when we are all back on our feet and have a little bit of disposable income, we will be so much more grateful for it, and also it makes you realise what is really valuable in this life - and it is not your balance to QQ!Debt Free Wannabe by 1 January 2016

Decided to bite the bullet and ring QQ today.
They've refused my offer of payment over 5 months so i told them i would just send the payments for what i offered as i can't do anymore.
My only way of paying them is by sending a cheque to their Sheffield PO Box address.
Would you believe that all post sent to this address is then forwarded to the US and they bank the cheques over there so all in all, my payments will take up to 4 weeks to reach my account with QQ.
Total madness but apparently the only way i can pay.
Debit card (which i'll never do as they'll have my details) or Paypal are for those that are in an agreed payment arrangement only
They also will not keep my account with them while i pay the balance back but cannot tell me at what point it will be transferred so i'll look forward to hearing from Mackenzie Hall then _pale_0 -

Well done, you have done the right thing there and please don't worry yourself over it. Once you start sending them regular payments there is little they can do to you. You may get some bad marks on your credit file but at least you shouldn't get a CCJ as you will be making payments so the courts probably won't dish one out. I will ask my Mrs for clarification and get back to you, she works for the CAB.0 -
This is what she saidThe lender still can take them to court, but in the court they will check all incomes and outgoings and if the payment plan was correct, lender has to agree to it.
The lender can ask the court to take steps to make them pay more, but if they can't, they can always ask the court to change the amount of the regular payments.
So providing you are paying them a fair share of your available income then you should have no problems.0 -
Both sides have to agree with amount of payment, or lender has a right to go to court. But usually lenders don't start with CCJ:
The court will expect the creditor and the client to have entered into negotiations before court action, to try to settle the matter without going to court. The Practice Direction on Protocols under the Civil Procedure Rules sets out the procedure that should normally be followed, including, for example, what should be included in the claimant's letter before action and how the defendant should respond to it. When checking what action has been taken, the adviser should see the letter before action or the default notice that the creditor should have sent to the client. This will give a basis for negotiation. If no letter before action has been sent, the client should bring this to the attention of the court when responding to the claim form so that the court knows that the client was not given warning of the court action.0 -
well what i have learned from the last few posts is of all the cities in England I moved to, it is the one that QQ use for their post!! How strange. Maybe that is why they are all so nice - they are not super efficient Americans at the end of the chat, they are just from South Yorkshire!
Sorry to hear they won't accept anything. I had the same today with payday uk. emailed them asking if I could freeze and pay a bit off every month. Emailed back to remind me if I pay off in full, I can borrow more. Very responsible. Asked them again. They said no. No reason. Said they will have to try for payment on pay day and they will contact me if they can't collect. Then useless general stuff including "do you know we work with credit reference agencies?"Debt Free Wannabe by 1 January 2016
