What are Sainsburys up to ??

Sainsburys Online saver was paying 3.2 % for balances over £1K for accounts opened until 30/11. They seemed to have dropped the rate to 3% for accounts opened 1/12 to 3/12. Now they've put it back up to 3.2% as of 4/12 !!

Is it some cunning marketing ploy or are they just indecisive ? I'd be p**d off if I'd opened an account between 1/12 to 3/12.....

There is no way one can apply for the "online saver" at the moment. The only savings account which one can apply right now is the "easy saver". Not sure why they have not brought back the 'apply now' page for the online saver.

To me it looks like that the 3.2% rate has been pulled and no new applications will be accepted, the updated interest rate table on the online saver page could be only for the customers who have already applied and their applications are currently being 'processed'.

However, it will be clear in a day or two what exactly they are up to - are they planning to bring this account back OR have they 'really' pulled it altogether.

I missed the bus in November, so really wish that this account is back.

That's very weird - never seen anything like that before. They have made a change to the max balance eligible for the bonus though dropping from 500K to 100K from 1 Dec onwards.

Incidentally does anyone know if there is any max limit imposed on a single BACS withdrawal from the online saver. There's nothing in the T&Cs about a maximum amount - just wondered if anyone had any experience?

So what does "account opened" mean?

When you completed the online process or when you sent the supporting documents to open an account if online verification failed?

BTW they have now corrected this. It's 3.2% from 1/12 onwards!

Spanking new outlet in Milton Keynes. Great place to do your shopping. No queues - mostly empty.
