First - thanks for all of your comments, I'll try and clarify a few points............

Your situation does not seem any clearer to me!

I had Transo come out to test the meter, the guy said it was running a smidgen rich, he adjusted it. He commented that 'there was something wrong somewhere with that bill'.

Gas meters can't be calibrated on site.

In the 10 days since the reading given to BG I've used 3 imperial units of gas per day.

I spoke to BG and they worked out 3 units per day going back to my date of occupancy, and agreed to deduct £100 from the bill.

Why would BG simply wipe almost half off your bill, if the start and end meter readings were correct and the meter was not found to be faulty and has not been replaced?

and what does any of that have to do with you Expresso?
  • I have an open fire, the chimney capped at the moment. I was thinking of opening it up and using smokeless fuel to heat the lounge, and hopefully the rest of the house. Does anyone use an open fire for this?
  • I've established that the old thermostat on the wall in the hall is not connected to my Alpha CB28X boiler. I presume that the heating is controlled per room by the stat valves on each rad, in conjunction with a reasonable setting on the boiler itself?
