Hi
never happened before and was using lap top today when suddenly i cannot get connected using the lap top this evening ( iam on the desk top at mo ) and getting connected on this ok.
iam used to seeing on the bottom right off my lap top two little monitors and a blue disc in between them this is when all is working corectly .....now its a red cross between the icons ! i also have an AOL icon beside it which has now turned a grey couler ( usually blue when healthy ) scrolling over the AOL icon , mesage telling me AOL not connected & scrolling over the two little monitor icons ( with red cross on ) tells me you are currently not connected, normally when i have clicked on this before it obviously tels me connect to a network etc and normally it lists all available networks inc my own
however this time when i choose connect to a network mesage says windows cannot find any networks ...then choose diagnose why windows cant find network ...mesage then says wireless capability on this computer is turned off ¬then tells me to turn it on and that this can usually be done by using a switch found on front or side off computer or a function key combination.
I switch the lap top on the same as i do every day and it works ( via the button in the middle off the dell inspiron lap top which i have done this evening also but nothing...just as above
any help please...obviosly the wireless netgear router is ok because iam on this desk top
Thanks for any help would appreciate

This is the clue here. It sounds like you have accidentally turned off the wireless connection.worriedsik wrote: »wireless capability on this computer is turned off ¬then tells me to turn it on and that this can usually be done by using a switch found on front or side off computer or a function key combination.
As it states this can either be via a switch on the laptop or a function key. Have as look on the laptop itself first for a switch or at the top row of keys and see if you can find a switch or key marked with a symbol which might suggest wireless, possibly a beacon or waves [kind of like this (((]. If you cannot see anything obvious then post back with the make and model of the laptop and we can try and find it through Google.
To access the function keys on the laptop you have to hold down a key marked "fn", usually at the bottom left of the keyboard, at the same time as pressing the relevant number key. Functions are normally printed on the keys in a different colour to the regular characters (in my case blue).0 -
