Did I get fake uggs ??

asos dont sell fakes im on my 3rd pair from there and have never had the booklet thing

Sorry, I forgot to mention it - we got them from ASOS.com. Ugg Bailey Button Black.

What worries me is ...

they are not as soft as I had expected

they are not odourless as I have read on some web pages

There is no instruction/authenticity booklet with raised letters.



I purposely paid 160 pounds so as not to get fakes so that may be affecting my judgement. Thanks for your help.

All Uggs on eBay where the seller has more than one pair for sale are fake. Uggs do not allow the sale of Uggs on ebay. Non of their registered sellers is allowed to sell on ebay.

Doesnt mean they're fake. Ugg probably dont like ebay sellers because they undercut their official retailers and lower the tone of the brand. But it doesnt mean all ebay sellers are selling a load of fakes.

I dont have much respect for Ugg I think they charge way too much.

it doesn't work like that. Apparently the wholesale price is so high that after paying tax and ebay and pay pal, it is impossible for anyone to sell a pair of genuine Uggs for less than 130 and make a profit. Also, the photos are most often obvious fakes.

A pair of Uggs is made from sheepskin and lasts for years. A 'good' fake is made from pigskin and will not last a season. Apart from that, they still cost 80-100 pounds and last a few weeks.

My other half used to work for shoe chain TReds and no way were they paying £130 wholesale for any of the range.

Regarding Ugg supplying only official stockists. While this is true it's not the entire picture. Ugg or the distributors for Ugg, stipulate minimum order quantities (like many other brands do, perfume, watches ect.) which for some retailers can run into thousands of units per year. Fine if you're going to sell 5000 pairs, but tricky if you're only likely to sell 300. What do you do with the others that you're obliged to buy? Sell them onto grey dealers who then distribute to none official stockists. The Ugg eBay guide was probably written by someone at Ugg HQ to put would be buyers off from buying through ebay and purchase from official sources instead.

My own opinion is that paying anything over £40 for a pair of Uggs means you've been ripped off.
