BT Contract problems

Can anyone advise me what to do with a problem im having with BT.
I have had my line rental with BT for 2 and a half years since moving into my flat, I have always had my calls with Sky. In July I got a call off BT saying they would reduce my line rental if I got paperless billing I agreed to this then got a letter a few days later thanking me for bringing my calls back to BT and a letter off sky saying they had been advised I was moving my calls back to BT. I phoned BT and told them I didnt want to do this and that I had only agreed to have paperless billing so they told me they would cancel the order, I also told Sky that I wanted to stay with them so they didnt cancel my contract with them.
A few weeks ago I got a phone bill from BT even though I am not meant to have my calls with them and I am still getting charged by Sky. I decided to cancel my BT line rental and have everything with Sky so BT couldnt steal any more momey, I have just had a letter from BT saying that they are going to charge me £55 pounds to cancel my line rental because I have an early termination from the 12 month contract that they put me on without asking and I have already canceled in July.
I have just phoned BT and they said they would investigate, but I already know they are going to say that I have to pay it cos im in contract.
Does anyone know how I can get out of paying them the termination charge, I have already written off the phone bill money they have already taken cos im sure I dont have a chance of getting that back !!
Thanks
