The brochure price was £139 but the on line price was £109.

oooh that's a good bargain :D I hope you have a good holiday and I'm glad I'm not the only one having a holiday in January that isn't somewhere hot and sunny.

I love seening different places at different times of the year.
Have managed Scotland in every season and am amazed at the changes of scenery. Last year in Jan. dep in snow we saw a majestic stag (from the bus) sniffing the air not 10 feet away from us, it was awesome.
You dont get anything like that in tenerife.

We went to Strathpeffer in July and at 11.50 at night it was still nearly daylight.
I dont mind the cold, you can keep putting layers on.
Theres a limit as to what you can take off when its hot. :rotfl::rotfl:

Hope you also have a nice holiday.

  • That's a great deal! There are some decent shops in town and the butchers was pretty good when we visited a year ago. The abbey and gardens are open in winter and don't forget to pay a visit to the old railway station, it is now a restaurant but go up the steps and the old platform is still there, complete with old fashioned posters. Burt's hotel on the main street is meant to be one of the best places in Scotland for food and I believe they have a real fireplace in the bar, perfect for winter. Take a walk past Newstead towards the disused but impressive railway viaduct, which is a nice walk. There are remains of an old Roman fort, though you can't really see it from the ground.
If you can, go Scott's view in the nearby hills. Nearby is Dryburgh Abbey and the Dryburgh hotel, which is also meant to be good for food.
Pay a visit to Peebles as well as it's a lovely town too.

thanks for that, the hotel we stay at is a good 20 minute walk into the town. We will do it this year (my oh couldnt walk for 20 seconds last year)
Will have to print this thread out as i wil probably have forgotten by the time we get there. The trip is 5 days and with 2 included excursions we will be have the time to saunter into the town.

ooh we went ovefr earlier in the year from holyhead, crossing was great
apart from having to go out side for a ciggie. Out in the open, its freezing.

Ferry was great, but i think there are a few different ferries, ours was the big one.
We went to Dublin for a few days with (god i cant remember) but we had a great time.

    Lovely people,
Take no notice of the beggars, they really arent beggars, the dress the part and then sod off at night round the corner and get changed in their Mercedes.
You have been warned - and have a good time.
