Anybody tried CHEAPCYCLE yet?

Options
I've just been told about a Yahoo Group called CHEAPCYCLE - I've just signed up to my two local ones Suffolk & Norfolk. From what I can tell you pay no fees. It looks like you place an ad for your items like Freecycle, but this time you stipulate a price you want to sell at - fixed price no bidding, then you arrange with the other person how to get it to them - collection or post.

Just wondered if anyone on here had used them and if it was any good?

Its gotta be a bonus that you don't pay any fees to sell stuff.
Banana Lovers
Buy your bananas in bunches of 5 on Sunday. Then arrange them in order of ripeness and write a day of the week on each banana in felt pen, Monday on the ripest, Friday on the greenest to save time making those decisions on a hectic weekday morning

  • I was a member of my local group and yes, sold a lot of my stuff. Disadvantages are, loads of emails all arriving in large batches as and when the moderator passed them. Stuff usually sells within minutes of appearing on the site, if not then it probably won't sell! Advantages are obviously no fees and no packing items up to post. Try it for a while. It helps if you live quite central to the group (I didn't, and found I was delivering a lot of my stuff if I wanted it to sell)! Good Luck!

It's a yahoo groups thing, so you might need to search yahoo groups for cheapcycle and the name of the place/county you're in. This might help a bit though http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Cheapcycle_Groups/ :)
This is my opinion. There are many others like it but this is mine

  • Has this developed from the political self destruction of freecycle? We have lost our group but it's been replaced with freegle.
    It's all so disjointed now.

I applied for freecycle and was rejected. They gave no reason.

Our Freecycle just ended up with people wanting there houses furnished. They have recently moved to Freegle but its much the same just full of want adds. I've given up with putting things up on it a while ago. Don't even look on it anymore
  • When I search for ones in England the only ones that come up are Suffolk & Norfolk.
I tried to set one up for Hastings and Bexhill, East Sussex, but it wouldn't let me :(
