any other options?

My husband and I are trying to move our credit cards debts over to 0% cards.

I've checked my credit report and that seems ok - two late payments about 6/7 months ago - that's it.

About that time I was rejected frm Virgin, I also wasn't on the electoral roll at the time.

I am now on the roll and tried to reapply with them but got rejected again.

I don't know whether it's worth trying with someone else or not as I don't want to damage my credit report anymore?

Any advice would be appreciated.

I'd suggest contacting Virgin's Underwriter and explaining your case. With the additional information, Virgin may change their mind.

Even though it was yesterday that they declined? it was online and declined seconds after submission. I have taken their number to ask why it was declined. Surely they can't have run a check in that time?!

You could find out for certain, if you wish, by ordering a credit report. (For help, see page 1 of the *How to obtain credit reports* sticky.

Credit checks appear on credit files more or less in real time.

P.S. The CRAs seem happy to answer questions over the phone if you quote the date and reference number of your last credit report. So if, for instance, you ordered your most recent report in the last 6 weeks or so, there's no need to order further copies ;)

Thanks very much. I'm going to call tonight as my report is literally a couple of weeks old. I only called yesterday or WEdnesday to cancel it as I didn't want to pay the monthly dd. I can still access the online area for 30 days apparently so may check, but the guy from credit expert told me that the last check from Virgin about 6 months ago wasn't on the report?!

If Virgin hasn't searched credit files, it would be useful to know.

Credit checks cost, so if there's something fundamental on application that rules you out, you won't be checked.

For instance, some lenders routinely reject applicants whose ID cannot be verified electronically via the CRAs. An extra line inserted in your address (eg. previously unused house name) can immediately kibosh an application. Some providers reject applicants who applied unsuccessfully for the same card within the previous 6 months. Others reject former customers that cancelled the card for various periods following closure.

Ok so I called Virgin and the lady informed me that I had been declined due to an arrangement on my loan! This arrangement was simply a change to the date they took the direct debit - not me asking to pay less or anything?!

They are checking files - I check Credit Expert this morning - it's just under MBNA so that's prob why the guy didn't realise when I spoke to him last week.

They also said they thought I had too much credit even though all I want to do is a balance transfer!

So annoying - guess I'll just have to stick with paying the 20.9% interest!
