Freeview Audio/BBC Interactive

Hi chaps,
I've been trying to switch the audio channel on BBC when watching the World Cup so that I can listen to Radio 5 commentary as oppsed to BBC1.
I press the red button and get the menu - it then tells me to press '1' to change the audio which I do... and then nothing happens!
The box is definitely receiving the signal as the light on the box flickers when '1' is pressed (and I have no problems switching to BBC1, so I don't think it's an obvious issue with the remote). All other interactive services appear to work fine.
I've re-set the box to factory settings, but still no luck. The freeview box is a PHILIPS DTR1500.
Please help, before Motson drives me insane!
Cheers.

the 'press the red button' bit on my freeview box has never worked, does exactly as you described for interactive shows.
I've tried everything to resolve it, and nothing's worked, I figure my signal isn't good enough (I'm in the back of beyond).
can you not access alternative commentary via either your pc (the beeb site or one of the regional varieties) or just by tuning in 5live or something while you watch tv muted??"If you really want to hurt your parents and you don't have nerve enough to be homosexual, the least you can do is go into the arts."0 -
Yes, but the PC and the hifi is not in the same room as the telly!niceguyrichy wrote:can you not access alternative commentary via either your pc (the beeb site or one of the regional varieties) or just by tuning in 5live or something while you watch tv muted??
The red button/interactive services work fine in every other way and the signal is pretty strong: it's just the "press 1" for alternative commentary that doesn't work. Very frustrating!0 -
it worked for meNo Links in Signature by site rules - MSE Forum Team 20

hey i had the same problem. Its to do with your signal strength. You could buy a signal amplifier or as i did a fiddle about with the position of the actual box and ariel until you get the signal. Took a while but got there with the ariel cellotaped to the ceilling.0

Now I may have this wrong (I often am) but I think you turn to either Freeview 301 or 302 and the the interactive feature works0

both 301 and 302 for freeview and they workNo Links in Signature by site rules - MSE Forum Team 20
