Well it depends who it is who has given the details. I know when you rent a property off someone they can pass the details to the gas and electric provider so they are aware of who is in the property.

Just out of interest, what is the problem that you have had happen?

    Two threads,

This is the second and has less info than the first. I would say no, but then I don't have all the facts......

    Hi Pam,
As I said on the original thread, without knowing the details of your agreement with the management company it's hard to say whether or not they are allowed to do this.
With regard to your follow up comment on that thread, I would assume that they had obtained the details through their contact with you and the arrangement to manage your property.
I understand that you might not want to share more details on a public forum, but I would think you are unlikely to get a definitive answer unless we know a little more.

Sounds like someone did it Pam so I'd say you know the answer is yes? I take it you really want to know if it was legal to do so.

If you used the utilities then you may be liable - if you didn't you may not be liable. You need to give more details about the situation before you can get more help. If you think there has been a breach of DPA then speak with the ICO - http://www.ico.gov.uk/
