difference between Maestro & Visa Debit?

I work for a breakdown company taking payments over the phone for policies. Everybody despises maestro as we can't do continuous payments on them, and people get really irate when told this isn't an option and always claim we're "penalising" them for having a maestro. We're told maestro don't actually allow continuous payments like every other card, though i'm guessing the reason is they know any maestro card in circulation at the moment won't be for very much longer, and want to avoid the hassle of people missing payments and the kind of irate phone calls they result in. Either way, if i never hear the word maestro again i'll die a happy man.0

all these discussions between visa and mastercard are so inane.
You guys do realise that visa and mastercard pretty much own all the smaller debit cards too right?
we essentially have two companies owning the lions share of the debit/credit card market.. Huge positions of power.
Not saying they're cartels, but what is the natural human inclination for two companies that own the entire market?
Will they carry on competing trying to beat the other and then victor is forced to sell half of the company by the monopoly comission anyway.
Or just basque in it, a nod and a wink to not fight over market share and just increase the fees. Screw the merchants.0 -

Thanks for the insult by the way, you sound like a really nice person.
