My question is why
I've been on here for a while now and have been reading alot of old posts and they all seem to follow a pattern in that DCA's and other recovery type agents seem to break the law in some way, either by bullying or not going through the proper channels.
Well my question is why does the government allow them to do these things? You read about folk who take drastic measures and some who even take their own lives because of the way these people operate. Ok you got a debt fair enough its your responsibility to pay it back but peoples circumstances change all the time.
It may seem CapQuest has bought quite a few old debts and are sending out letters like crazy but if they know that of these debts are unenforceable, statute barred or any other reason why they should not be contacting people why are they allowed to buy these debts?
I know they are just trying their luck in the hope that people don't know their rights and will just hand over cash (and at times can't even afford to) but we still need protecting and it seems the government aren't doing anything to stop it. I know some will say thats what Debt line or CAB is for but not everyone has the personality to challenge these people.
If I've posted in the wrong section then I do apologise

Part of the problem is that wherever the line is drawn, the DCA's will see how close they can get to overstepping it.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0

i) People don't complain enough
ii) The relevant authorities are so overworked and underfunded, they don;t have the time to do a tenth of the prosecutions they would like to do.0
