Easter trip to China

Mrs Tillster has suprised me with a trip to China at easter.

Have a friend in Shanghai so will spend some time with him.

Does anyone have experience of buying flights to China (that said, we're flying from Copenhagen not London) ?

Cheapest we've found til now is around £350 with China Southern Airlines - anyone tried them beforeand have any comments?

Any help would be much appreciated - we're a little into the unknown on this one

I have used China Southern for domestic flights: they are among the better domestic carriers, but I would prefer to fly long-haul with someone else. Note that they code-share with KLM, so you might be able to get FB miles with them and/or buy a ticket for one of "their" flights that is actually operated by KLM.

Don't forget to look at flights out of other cities near to you.

And look at flights into other major Chinese cities: Beijing is just an overnight train ride away from Shanghai.

Thanks for the tips. We're looking into the KLM option, also into an option with Swiss

We're gona fly to Shanghai where our friend lives and take the train to Beijing from there.

Not really worked out what other trips / connections we'll be taking other than these yet

The Shanghai world expo 2010 is coming, some shanghai hotels published the rate for the period from next Mayto Oct. early booking via sinohotel.com can get much better rate. :T

went with finnair last summer for the total eclipse, london via helsinki. Outward bound went to beijing and returned from shanghai, cost was no more than basic return from shanghai.

China southern airlines are OK for internal flights which are cheap and plentiful, most routes will have seats available even a couple of hours before the flight.
