ridiculas payments

Hi guys great forum i hope you may be able to point me in the right direction
here we go

I've been married since september and have been paying csa for the past 12 years i currently pay £68 a week .
I thought due to having a child of our own and a stepdaughter that it might benefit us to get it re calculated.
The csa has asked for 2 wage slips (i get payed monthly)
anyway to cut it short
they have said that my payment will be going up to £98 a week
the thing is the wage slips that i sent off had penty of overtime on them but i needed that to survive

I live with my wife currently not working
our child boy 5
my stepdaughter 15
councill property £85 rent
councill tax £31
i do have loans and bills like any other i will be struggling to pay the amount they suggest
could i do a monthe at work without overtime basic wage and ask them to reasses me
my gross salary is around £30000
please forgive me if i've left something out

Can I assume you are on CSA1?

The CSA do not take step children into consideration on CSA1 AFAIK
Have a look at this leaflet I found on the CSA website it may/may not help.

Welcome to the world of the skint NRP!!!!!

First of all, make sure the CSA are aware that you have a child of your own as you will receive an allowance for him/her. On the old CS1 rules, as far as I'm aware, you won't receive any allowance for any step children.

Make sure the CSA are aware of your monthly housing costs, ie: rent per month if that's how you pay, or if you pay weekly, then multiply it by 52 & divide it by 12 (85x52=4420 divide by 12 = £368.34) & make them aware of your up to date council tax payments.

If you pay into a pension, then again, make them aware of this & you should receive an allowance of half your monthly payment.

As far as your overtime question goes, yes you can reduce your overtime for a while if you feel you were assessed on unusually high overtime months, but you will need to provide 2 monthly pay slips to verify this.

Alternatively, you can supply up to 12 monthly payslips & they will average out your net payments over this period & base your assessment on this figure.

Nearly forgot to add, on CS1 if your child/children stay overnight with you for at least 104 nights per year, you should be entitled to a shared care allowance.

Your OH could close the case given she isn't receiving anything and after 13 weeks get it re-opened on CS2.The arrears will be carried over on to CS2. Then you could migrate over. Try the CSA calculator to see if it will help.

The CSA can go direct to HMRC and ask for his latest accounts.

As Loopy Girl will confirm, it is VERY IMPORTANT to get the closure in writing from them asap.If no sign of a letter within the week keep phoning and phoning. Take the person's name and direct phone number.
  • your oh sorry i'm new to the lingo can you go through this again it sounds interesting

Just been reading your first post again.

When did you approach them to ask for the reassessment and how many weeks did they take to complete it?

I'm worried about the arrears figures.
