Ikea Slow Cooker Instructions

Options
Has anyone got these? I got a slow cooker from freecycle but no instructions. Obviously know the principle of how they work but like to have instructions for things! If you could scan and email would be great or I would send an SAE

Thanks in advance

If it is a model still in stock, then you can ring the IKEA helpline (on the website) and ask them to send you a copy. They keep stock of all sorts of insructions and parts that might be 'missing' from the packages when you get them home.

As an alternative , I can give you a 'dummmies guide' to how my slow cooker works:

It is a ceramic crock pot with three settings - low, high and warm. If I put it on 'low' then most dishes need 8 hours or more to cook - which means that I can leave it on overnight or while out at work.

On 'high' most dishes take 5-7 hours to cook.

The 'warm' facility is to keep warm a dish that is already cooked (eg, a meal where the meat is fully tenderised, but that I'm not yet ready to eat). I use this setting if I get in from work after leaving the cooker on 'low' all day, but decide I'd rather go back out to the gym before eating. You need to use this setting sparingly and NEVER as an alternative to 'low' or 'high' in the case of foods that need reheating from cold - it is important that food, especially meat, is always piping hot when serving, in order to be sure that you have killed dangerous bacteria.

    Good luck and enjoy!

It will be absolutely fine to put a meal in and leave it all day. The important thing with slow cooker cooking, esp if you use meat is that you should always add HOT liquid. Also remember that the slow cooker can leave meat looking pale, so for aesthetic reasons (and to seal in the juices and flavour), I always brown meat before adding to the pot.

I don't use mine v often, but when I do, I brown some meat and onions, add in whatever veg I fancy and add a couple of pints of hot stock, and just switch it on and go to work/bed whatever.... and 8+hours later: a fab stew.

You'll find loads of slow cooker recipes in the indexed thread on the oldstyle board.

 Sorry to keep coming back. Would you suggest having it on warm or cook for all of that time. I obviously messed up as didn't brown the meat and put cold stock in!! Thanks

No prob. Personally I would put it on cook to start with and leave it on cook for the full time. I only occasionally switch it to warm if it has already been on all day and if the meat is already falling off the bone.

Here is the ultimate Complete Slow Cooker Collection of links.

But do feel free to come back here with questions as and when - it can be hard to find what you want in the archives..!!
