Yellow Box Junction Problem

The other night on my way home I stopped at the edge of a yellow box junction on a dual carrigeway. I naturally waited for the car in front to move on so that there was space for me so that I didn't stop in the yellow box.

Unfortunately for me I just crawled forward and some little squirt in a mini darted in from the left hand lane and took the (my) space, leaving me stranded in the yellow box. I was stuck there for about 15-20 seconds, although it felt much longer.

Now I don't know if there were any camera's at this junction, but I'll be pretty peeved if I end up with a fine.

Would I have any defence if I am issued with a fine?

Might be a difficult one to prove, sadly.

If your exit was clear when you entered the box then you haven't commited any offence.

if there was a camera then it would have picked up the mini,go to the spot and look to see if there is a camera to put your mind at rest

The sneaky bar stewards often just print out a photo of the offence on the fine form. You should ask for a copy of the CCTV if this happens.

Apart from the defence(s) mentioned already. You can look at the layout of the yellow box to see if it has been constructed properly. The rules can be found in the TSRGD which is a hefty complicated piece of work but the rules are in there, if any rule is broken that will be a line of defence.

Where is this box junction? Others on here may know it and know if it's monitored by cameras or not.
