Hello, can anyone help me please on someone using my data to set up an account for united utilites?
I have found out the management company that runs my bloc of flats has used my personal details to set up an account with united utilites-can he do this and has he got my info from the land registry site...?
any ideas please?
Thanks Pam

I would check the terms of your agreement with your management company - have they made any provision to use your details to change utilities supplier etc? Is the account for your property? Do you pay the management company for utility bills or do you pay direct?0

Sorry RADOJO I meant HOW did the management company get my private home address, date of birth, home phone number etc to give to united utilities?
Thanks Pam0 -

As for the rest... I don't know.
I also don't know how you can expect anyone here to know how they did it.
Could you not ask the management company?0 -
I accidently, while trying to find my dodgy joiner's address, came across an internet site which seems to sell a frightening amount of personal details about individuals including mother's maiden name. I can't remember it's name but I think I googled joiner and the town he comes from. I am on it as is my phone number, address and age range and the name and age range od my son, as is my mother and dead father. You have to pay to find further info so I don't know how much they hold. I can only assume that they get this info through those consumer surveys that they used to send out.
I may try to find it again tomorrow when I have more time. If I am successful I will let you know.0 -
It's 192.com and they claim to get info from electoral register but there seems to be more on there than you can find from that, Still haven't found dodgy joiner's address though. However, that's where your landlord may have found yours. It seems a very unethical site to me0

Payless, that site sounds scary and dangerous. It seems to provide the sort of info that crooks would use to rob someone's identity and eventually their bank accounts. Surely this can't be legal?
Our government don't seem to give a dam about protecting ordinary folk from dodgy "businesses"! Almost the opposite, loosening up all the "red tape" that used to protect us to help their con/business mates! It's great to be ALIVE!0 -
I've just emailed them about the very same thing and asked them what lawful use their site could be used for. Especially as I found my deceased father's name and address on there0

when you registered for electoral roll, did you tick the box for the edited register? If you didn't tick the box, 192.com has your details I think. I'm only listed on 192.com back in 2002 (about 4 addresses ago) which is the last time I was on the electoral roll before they introduced the whole edited register change.Indecision is the key to flexibility0

But the management company has more likely got your details from the owners.Indecision is the key to flexibility0
