I've been sent a file (Insurance Claim Form) with a .dat extension. Any idea what programme will open this. I've a new computer but nothing seems to be opening it. The company suggested Adobe 9.2 might read it. I have Adobe 9.0.

Make a copy and change the last 3 digits (.dat) to .pdf and see if it works then:idea:0

.dat is a file extension generally just used for data of one sort or another. It looks wrong to me perhaps they've sent you the wrong attachment? I'd query it with them.Stompa0

I had tried both your suggestions. However, I have now got it to open with the file name 'Claim Form.pdf.dat. Never heard of two files extensions. However, its sorted now so thanks for your help.0
