broken cooker?

hi-
Not quite sure where to post this! A couple of days ago we noticed that whenever we switch our cooker on, all the power goes out!
The cooker is only about 2 years old, and was only about £200.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what we should do? We dont think it is the house wiring as the house itself is 2 years old, and everything (bar the cooker!) is working fine.
Is it worth trying to get someone out to repair the cooker (and if so, any reccomendations for repair men?!), or should we just go ahead and purchase a new cooker?
Many thanks for any suggestions!

Sounds like the heating element has shorted. You can probably get it repaired, no idea how much that will cost though. Try googling 'cooker repairs' or look in your phone book under 'cooker sales & service' and get some quotes. For every complex problem there is an answer that is clear, simple and wrong.0

thanks.
i managed to find a local kitchen appliance repair man coming out tomorrow morning to look at it (free estimate).
I called indisit and they wanted £105 just to come and visit!
