A & L account - £100 incentive

My husband opened an account with them and got the £100 incentive about 5 months ago, my question as I can't find it anywhere in the paperwork they sent is do you have to keep the account open for a certain period or they want the £100 repaid?

UPDATE after sending A&L a letter, my wife received a full refund of all her bank charges.
If A&L had listened and sympathised in the first instance they would still have her custom!
I've been with A&L (previously Girobank) for almost 30 years. I persuaded my wife to transfer her current account from the Halifax to A&L (she gets her monthly salary paid in to her account and she has only one direct debit for £20.00 each month).
During the course of the transfer two monthly direct debit payments went unpaid, as a result A&L have now charged her almost £50.00 for having an unauthorised overdraft!
She telephoned A&L and explained the situation, but they have refused to refund the £50.00, their explanation was that they (A&L) had sent a letter to my wife's Employers and that it was the Employers who were at fault for not paying into my wife's new account on time...............have they never heard of letters getting lost in the post!!
As a consequence my wife is now £50.00 out of pocket plus numerous telephone calls to A&L plus she now has an indifferent credit rating!
My advice is be very wary if deciding to change bank accounts....."better the devil you know", so much for A&L's "hassle free" Transfer Team!
Will keep you updated on any further developments, but I'm not too confident of a successful response from A&L!0 -
in one the letters from A&L i got it says there will not be any charges for the first 3 months of the switching process?
The £100 is paid when the transfer is completed and settled down i think? and maybe when the other bank account is closed?

My husband thought it would be good idea for me to move to A&L as he has been with them for 30 years, but when we applied for a joint account it was declined. Seems strange.0

I was intending to close my Halifax acct and get it all transferred over to open the A & L one, as the offer closes on 13/12/09.
But having read some of the stories within the forum, I have to say that I am beginning to think all the problems people have had with A & L, make me think the "free" £100 is not worth it.0 -
and set the wheels in motion of closing my account with the Halifax and transferring over to A & L Prem acct to claim the £100. I will let you all know how it goes, but am going to transfer £500 from my Britannia acct in straight away.
I have a feeling something will go wrong with my DD's and SO's, based on the poor reviews others have given about A & L elsewhere on this forum.0 -
I am new to this idea, having read it today, but I have an account with several banks, one of which has no direct debits and nothing being paid into it. Would it work to make an account with A&L and transfer the account which has nothing happening? Is there somewhere that says the account transferred must be a main account?2013 Wombles onto Giftcard Challenge £0/£1200

You must transfer all your direct debits to get the £100.
So there must be at least one DD to transfer.
I changed DDs for 2 unused credit card to a spare bank account, then switched from that account, in order to gain the £100.0
